Garcia College of Technology was established in 1968 by the late spouses, Don Florencio M. Garcia and Doña Enrica Reyes Garcia, parents of Mr. Edwin Reyes Garcia, the present Chairman of the Board of Directors. The school was established as an answer to a call for advancement in the technological fields and educational needs of the youth of Aklan, Antique, Romblon, Capiz and other neighboring provinces in Region VI.

Since the inception of the school, it has produced Sixteen Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-Six (16,946) graduates. As of March 2019 about One Thousand Five Hundred Ninety-One (1,591) of them passed the different board examinations, 551 for Civil Engineering, 7 for Professional Mechanical Engineering, 179 for Mechanical Engineering, 3 for Professional Electrical Engineer Examination, 281 for Registered Electrical Engineer Examination, 22 for Geodetic Engineering Board, 390 for Certified Public Accountant Board, 4 for Real Estate Appraiser, 5 for Real Estate Broker, and 134 for Registered Master Electrician Examination, 2 Certified Plant Mechanics and 13 Master Plumber. Ten of these board passers have qualified to the prestigious TOP TEN and THIRTEENTH PLACERS; two (2) Civil Engineers (2nd & 3rd Place); one (1) Registered Mechanical Engineer (5th Place); one (1) Real Estate Broker (6th Place); one (1) Associate Electrical Engineer (3rd Place); three (3) Registered Electrical Engineers (7th, 9th, 13th Place; one (1) Associate Geodetic Engineer (7th Place); one (1) Registered Master Electrician (1st Place); and one (1) Certified Public Accountants (7th Place). On May 16, 2007, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VI, awarded a certificate of recognition to Garcia College of Technology for exemplary performance towards the pursuit of quality and excellence in higher education for having a 7th Placer examinee in the October 2006 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination.
Certificate of Recognition was awarded to the College for having ranked Second Place (with 14 or more examinees and with at least 80% passing percentage) in the April 2013 Electrical Engineering Licensure Examination with an Exemplary Passing Performance of 87.50% among all participating Schools, Colleges and Universities, given by the Professional Regulation Commission.
The College is very proud of its graduates as almost all of them are employed and holding key positions in either the government or private firms. Most of our graduates excel in their chosen field endeavor. The achievements of the graduates of Garcia College of Technology show the success of the school in delivering quality education to its constituents.
In 2013, Government Recognition No. SR-002, Series of 2013 was granted to offer Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10. The school adopts the curriculum of the Department of Education on Strengthened Technical-Vocational Education Program (STVEP). This is in consonance with the government’s thrust in intensifying the technical-vocational education in the country. In 2016, Government Permit (Region VI) No. SHS-044, s. 2016 was granted to Garcia College of Technology, Inc. to offer Senior High School Academic Strands namely: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM); and Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS).
